1. Who is responsible for your data
PHAME operates this app and is the data controller for the personal data described here, under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
2. What we collect
Your name, phone number, email, profile photo and live selfie; your Ghana Card and other verification documents; vehicle details such as plate number and colour; wallet deposits and service-fee records; trip and delivery records; your live location while you are online; in-app messages and call events; ratings and complaints; and device and app information.
3. Why we use it
To verify who you are, match you with nearby passengers, calculate fares and service fees, show live trip progress, keep trips safe, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations. Our legal bases are performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in a safe platform, your consent for camera and location access, and compliance with the law.
4. Location and camera
Location is collected while you are online or on a trip so passengers can be matched and tracked to you. The camera is used only for your live verification selfie and document photos. You can turn either permission off in your device settings, but you cannot go online or complete verification without them.
5. Who we share with
Passengers on your trip see your first name, photo, vehicle and rating, and can contact you through the in-app call and chat. We use service providers for payments (Paystack), SMS verification (Arkesel), maps and routing (OpenStreetMap-based services) and push notifications. We share data with the Police or other authorities when the law requires it or where there is a credible safety risk. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Retention
Trip, wallet and service-fee records are kept for as long as accounting, tax and safety rules require. Verification documents are kept while your account is active and deleted when they are no longer needed; rejected documents are deleted automatically.
7. Your rights
You may ask for a copy of your data, correct it, ask us to delete it where the law allows, object to certain uses, or withdraw consent for camera and location. Verified identity details are locked after approval and can only be changed through support. Requests go through Support. You may also complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
8. Security
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, sessions expire, documents are access-controlled, and admin activity is logged. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your password private and report anything suspicious.
9. Children
The rider app is only for adults aged 18 and above.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or data requests, use Support in the app.
